It’s on to the State Tournament for the Kearny Little League Major All-Stars. Kari Ramsey | Submitted

Copper Basin News

The Kearny Little League Majors All-Star team was crowned champion after winning the Arizona District 11 All-Star Tournament last Friday night. The team now advances to the Arizona State All-Star Tournament later this month.

Kearny, the tournament’s host team, took on Pinal Mountain in the championship game, which was often tied throughout the first four-and-a-half innings.

Kearny finally moved ahead for good in the top of the fifth inning, taking a 10 – 6 lead they would not relinquish as they won the district championship by the same score.

The District 11 Champions should have another “home field” advantage in the Majors (11/12) Arizona State All-Star Tournament, which is being hosted by Pinal Mountain Little League, another District 11 league. The double-elimination tournament is scheduled to begin July 16 in Claypool.
