Ray teams post wins over Duncan

  It was double the trouble for the visiting Duncan Wildkats when they came up against the Ray teams.

  On Saturday, April 6, the Ray teams hosted Duncan.

  The Lady ‘Cats’ game started with a 0-0 first inning, followed by Ray scoring 1 run in the second inning. No more runs were posted until the fourth inning, when Duncan scored 1 run, making the game a tie. In the fifth inning, the girls came out swinging and posted 10 runs. The game concluded with a 11-1 victory over the Wildkats.

  In the boys’ game, the first inning started with Ray scoring 1 run, while giving up 2. The second inning saw neither team post any runs. During the third inning, Duncan posted 5 runs, while the Bearcats posted 2. The fourth and fifth innings saw no runs posted by either team. In the sixth inning, the Bearcats came back swinging, scoring 6 runs. The game concluded with a final score of 9-7, giving the Bearcats the win.

  It was a light time on the diamond last week for the Lady ‘Cats. The girls hosted Baboquivari. The first inning once saw a 0-0 scoreboard, but in the second inning the girls posted 6 runs, while only giving up 1. During the third inning the girls gave up 1 run but posted 4. In the fourth inning, the girls posted 5 more runs, but in the fifth inning, gave up 3 runs. The game ended with a final score of 15-5, giving the girls the win.

  The boys kicked off last week with a home game against Baboquivari. The game started with a 1-1 first inning. During the second inning, the boys posted 5 runs, while giving up none. The third inning saw the boys post 1 run, followed by a 5 run fourth inning. In the fifth inning, the boys gave up 4 runs, and posted 3. The game ended with a 15-5 final score, making it a Bearcat win.

  The Bearcats closed out their week by competing in Epic Tourney’s Baseball Classic. The boys first game was up against Globe. The first inning saw the boys post 3 runs, while only giving up 1. In the second inning, the boys posted 1 run, followed by a no run third inning. During the fourth inning, Globe posted 1 run, and then 3 more in the fifth inning. During the sixth inning, both teams scored 2 runs each. The game ended with a close score of 6-7, making it a tough loss for the Bearcats. Final tournament results were not available at press time and will be included in next week’s issue.

  Both teams will travel this week to take on Desert Christian, Baboquivari and Valley Union.
