The Miami Jr. High seventh-grade boys’ basketball team and the seventh-grade San Carlos girls’ basketball team each won Central Junior High League Tournament Championships, which took place at Ray Jr. High School last weekend.
Top-seeded San Carlos cruised to its championship, defeating Superior (37 – 13) in the semifinals before handling No. 2-seed High Desert in the championship game, 32 – 18.
Miami, which was the top-seed on the boys’ side, defeated No. 4 Ray (35 – 17) in the semifinals before beating No. 3 High Desert in the championship game, 59 – 46. The Tigers upset No. 2 San Carlos in the semifinals to reach the tournament finals.
