The fourth-ranked Ray softball team remained undefeated in sectional play after last Tuesday’s 18 – 0 lopsided win at Ft. Thomas. The Lady Cats scored at least three runs in each of the first four innings, including eight in the first, to improve to 4 – 0 in Section VI.

Stormee Galka and Savannah Willis each had four hits, accounting for half of the Lady Cats’ 16 hits in the game, which included a homerun by Galka and doubles by Willis and Elisa Rodriguez.

Galka, Willis, Rodriguez, and Gabbi Montano, who had three hits, each had two RBI in the victory.

Galka and Nepeese Avechuco pitched four shutout innings combined, limiting the Apaches to only one hit while striking out nine.

The win kept the Lady Cats in a first-place tie in the section with top-ranked San Manuel. Those two teams will play each other last this week (Friday) at San Manuel, featuring two teams who are among the top state title contenders. Friday’s game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
