Volunteer Day is coming to Old Dominion Historic Mine Park

Globe – A Volunteer Day is planned for Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Old Dominion Historic Mine Park. Community and civic groups are invited to come out and help continue the work on this gem of a park.  Work will range from cleaning trails and display areas to more specialized work to secure exhibits and put up signage. The work will be under way from 8 a.m. to roughly noon.
We will have water available, but please wear long pants and closed toe shoes and bring gloves, sunscreen and a hat. Also, if you are able to bring any tools such as rakes, hoes and clippers that could be used on the trails, it would be appreciated.

Groups interested in participating can leave contact information with the Chamber of Commerce, by calling 425-4495. The chamber is working with the volunteer community group that has been hard at work for many years to make the park a reality. They know they can’t do it all, so are very appreciative of the many volunteers who come out on a regular basis to help. T-shirts will be available on Nov. 1to volunteers who have not received one.

As a walking park, the OD is a wonderful addition to Globe’s park system with trails ranging from easy to moderate. And each trail offers a wealth of information on the history of the mine, Globe and mining in general.
