The first session of free swim lessons, sponsored by the Town of Mammoth and the Sea Lions Swim Team, was successfully completed on Friday, June 17.  For two weeks, 22 kids, ages 2 through 13, and one adult, worked very hard to learn how to swim.

The little ones learned how to put their faces in the water and blow bubbles underwater.  The older kids learned how to swim 25 yards of freestyle, 25 yards of backstroke, and jump into the deep-end of the pool.  At the end of the two week session all participants were issued certificates of completion showing the level of swimming skills that they had achieved.

It is so important that all kids learn how to swim.  Whether kids choose to swim recreationally or competitively, swimming is a great exercise and a skill that everyone can use, no matter their age. For kids who want to swim competitively, the Sea Lions Swim Team and the San Manuel High School Swim Team offer opportunities for kids of all swimming abilities.  For adults, the Mammoth Pool offers Adult Lap Swim Monday – Friday from 7-9 a.m.

Many thanks to the Town of Mammoth, the Town of Mammoth Lifeguards, and the Sea Lions Swim Team for conducting free swim lessons for the kids (and adults!) in the Tri-Community. To register for free swim lessons at the Mammoth Pool, please stop by the pool to pick up a registration form.
