Pioneer Days just two weeks away

Everyone is invited to attend the Queens fashion show at the Women’ Expo on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 1 p.m. at the Hayden District office mini auditorium. Bring purchased tickets from any of the Queen and Jr. Queen candidates. The drawing will be on Thursday, March 12 immediately after the Queens and court are announced. Carnival presale tickets are available at the Winkelman Town Hall from Gloria Ruiz, and Hayden Town Hall from Nancy Hinojos. In Kearny the tickets are at the chamber office Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and She’s country from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Mega cards are $15 and a sheet of 40 for $25

There is just one day left for the t-shirt pre sales which are black not grey and feature human pulled hand carts which were popular with those who could not afford covered wagons. Celebrating our Heritage in copper color outlines the shirts lettering.

Early parade entries are encouraged so the committee members can get the script and judges information ready. It is difficult on parade day to get it written at the last minute. The parade runs from Griffith and Allen across the highway to Upton, Alden to the Judges stand and down Tilbury, ending on Beuford by the laundromat. Use your imagination for an entry. Everyone has a heritage to celebrate. Families are encouraged to enter as a group or individuals.

There is still booth space available for merchandise vendors and space is awarded on a first apply, first served basis.

We know that the general public is used to driving in and around Pioneer Park anytime they want but once the carnival arrives access to the area is limited. They do not appreciate people driving in and around while they are working. Also, once the carnival rides start there is absolutely no motorized vehicles allowed past the Little League Concession stand or past the carnival office trailer, wheelchairs and strollers are exceptions. That has to be enforced.

Children love riding their bicycles, skateboards, scooters , etc. Once they are inside the park we have to confiscate the item. These items can be picked up at the end of the evening. Families come for a safe leisurely evening and do not want to have to watch out for these items running into them.

For all the dog lovers keep you pets at home. Health department rules do not allow animals near food and dog messes are no fun to step in. This includes animals stuffed into jackets or pockets.

Sorry for all the rules but they are for the protection of the public. We want everyone to have fun and be safe. It is reunion time and a great time for everyone to gather and reminisce and celebrate their heritage in the Copper Basin.
