Leonor Hambly K-8 students participated in a math completion at Bradshaw Mountain High School in Prescott Valley. The students had to complete a combination of individual and group tests. This was a very difficult challenge, but our students did a great job. Damien Garcia placed second out of all the third graders, and Greace Corona received a metal for being the top of our group. Damien Garcia, Greace Corona, and Jeremy Aguirre qualified for state. The state competition will take place on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Rincon High School. Our students that attended the competition are: sixth grade; Manuel (Manny) Guillen, Marissa Baragan, fifth grade; Aiyana Gonzales, Aaron (A.J.) Lopez, Miranda Gomez, Greace Corona, fourth grade; Brandon Garner, Damien Smith, Karina Inzunza, Jeremy (J.J) Aguirre, and third grade; Alonzo Sims, Damian Garcia. This was our first year attending a math competition and I would like to say that these students did an exceptional job competing against schools three to four times bigger than our school.
