It’s time to take everyone out to the ball game! Friday was an enjoyable event put on for the Kearny Little League by APS and former major league baseball players Ken Phelps, Ron Davis, Dave Hilton and Lou Klimchock. Approximately eight members of APS were there to help with the baseball clinic for approximately 40 youth ages nine to 15.

There was so much laughter and enthusiasm in the air as the youth met with the former major league players to learn fundamentals of baseball including infield, outfield, throwing and hitting, and teaching the youth important life skills including teamwork, sportsmanship and positive attitudes.

Lou Klimchock said, “It’s about giving back to the community, teaching important life skills and having fun.” APS helped put this event together for the Kearny Little League. APS started the Perfect Game Program in 1998 and continues to put together events like this to involve the young people of rural communities to bring enjoyment and support back to the communities they serve. Judged by the strong turn out the community appreciates the efforts.
