The Florence Unified School District (FUSD) would like to announce that Dr. Tim Richard will be returning to FUSD, pending Board approval, as the Planning Principal for the newly consolidated Coolidge Unified School District (CUSD) schools in San Tan Valley (STV).  This is a vital position to ensure a successful and smooth transition of the three schools, especially the over 130 faculty and staff members and over 1000 students into FUSD.

On November 3, 2015, the voters in three communities (CUSD, FUSD, and STV transferred area) approved the consolidation of three schools in San Tan Valley (San Tan Heights Elementary School, Mountain Vista Middle School and San Tan Foothills High School) as well as, over 40% of CUSD district in STV into the Florence Unified School District.  These schools will be formally incorporated to FUSD beginning July 1, 2016.

Dr. Tim Richard has a proven record as a successful principal.  His administrative journey has taken him from EVIT, Scottsdale USD, Florence High School, Globe High School, Westwood High School (Mesa), to back at FUSD- Poston Butte High School for the two years (2013-2015). In the two years at PBHS, Dr. Richard was able to change the school’s culture and increased state test scores among other achievements.  In 2015, under his leadership, Poston Butte High School was named an “A+ School of Excellence” by the Arizona Education Foundation.

“The Florence Unified School District’s superintendency is proud to recommend to our Board Dr. Tim Richard to be the Planning Principal for the newly consolidated schools,” said Dr. Amy Fuller, Superintendent of FUSD. “FUSD has been a part of Dr. Richard’s successful leadership journey.  We know him and trust he will ensure a smooth transition for the three schools in the CUSD San Tan Valley transfer area to FUSD.”
