Catherine ‘Katie’ Trujillo

  Catherine “Katie” Trujillo entered her eternal home on July 19, 2023, at the age of 97.  She was born in Sonora, Arizona on April 30, 1926, and later married Manuel “Nelo” Trujillo in November of 1946.  Together, they moved from Sonora to Kearny in 1965, where they continued to raise their four children.   

  Katie was a homemaker who loved to cook for family and friends.  She was devoted to her Catholic faith, and her favorite hobbies included sewing and watching Westerns on TV.  Katie was a loving wife, mother and nana.  She was generous and caring and will be remembered for her beautiful smile and loving heart.   

  Katie was preceded in death by her husband Manuel, son Richard “Dicky,” and brothers Thomas, Celestino, Manuel and Alfredo.

  She is survived by her son, Manuel (Irma); daughters, Angie Guzman and Cathy Trujillo; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her 103-year-old brother, John. 

  Services for Katie took place on Wednesday, July 26, at St. George’s Catholic Church in Apache Junction.  Katie was laid in her final resting place at Mountain View Cemetery in Mesa. 

  The family was assisted with exceptional service by Griffith Mortuary.
