National Night Out

National Night Out is an event that enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing the community together. It is also used to inform the public about police and community programs including drug preventative initiatives, town watch programs, crime prevention tips, etc. National Night Out usually occurs on the first Tuesday in August but due to the Pandemic, it is being held in October 2020.

The Copper Corridor Community Substance Abuse Coalition has partnered with the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office and Town of Mammoth Police Department to present National Night Out to the Tri-Community. On Friday Oct. 9, 2020, from 4-8 p.m., deputies from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Department will be parading around San Manuel and Oracle handing out resource bags to all families with information to help prevent and fight against substance use. There will also be an item list for an indoor Scavenger Hunt. For all those residents who complete the Scavenger Hunt, they will be put in a raffle for the chance to win a gift certificate for a large pizza from De Marco’s in Oracle. Five pizzas will be given away. There is also a grand prize of $25.

Also, on Oct. 9, from 4 to 8 p.m., Mammoth Police Chief Rudy Lujan will lead the Mammoth parade through town, with officers passing out resource bags. Mammoth residents are also eligible to participate in the Scavenger Hunt with a chance to win pizzas and a grand prize of $25. Las Michoacanas Mexican Restaurant is sponsoring the pizza giveaways.

Other ways community members can show their support for local police: Have individual picnics in your front yard or on the front porch; decorate your front yard with crime prevention signs or support your local police signs; replace your front porch light with a blue bulb.

For more information about National Night Out in the Tri-Community or to register for the Scavenger Hunt, visit the Facebook Page: Copper Corridor Community Substance Abuse Coalition.

Look on Copper Area’s and Copper Corridor Community Subtance Abuse Coalition’s Facebook pages Oct. 9 at 4 p.m. for the Scavenger Hunt list.
