Industrious young man earns money while staying at his grandparents

Aiden Hicks has been painting house numbers on curbs to earn some money for a computer.

If you’ve notice some new curb house numbers in Kearny, they are the work of 12-year-old Aiden Hicks.

He is in Kearny visiting his grandparents, Jeff and Dana Young. This industrious young man wanted to do something worthwhile during his visit and noticed the curb numbers at the homes near his grandparents’ house were faded or not there at all. He said visible numbers are important especially for emergency people and decided that would be a good project and still earn some money.  He was busy during last summer’s visit painting his grandparents porch.

Aiden has painted about 70 curb numbers in Kearny so far this summer and charges $10 for each house. He makes contact with the residents during the heat of the day and does the work early in the morning.

He told the Copper Basin News that wants to buy a new computer.

He will be leaving Thursday, after a productive visit with his grandparents. His grandparents are very proud of him and look forward to his next visit.

Aiden lives in Las Vegas with his mother and is in the seventh grade.
