On Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, Arizona historian and author, Rick Powers will be giving a talk on the infamous Pearl Hart and the stage robbery along the road near Kane Springs.

The lecture, titled “Murder and Mayhem Along the Old Toll Road in Kane Springs – The Making of a Legend, Pearl Hart,” will begin at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. It is free although donations are welcome.

Rick Powers is a longtime Arizona resident and an avid history buff. He is originally from Kansas and has a big interest in Arizona and local history. He lives in Globe with his wife Lee Ann, another history buff.

The Pearl Hart stage robbery was in 1899. It made her a nationwide celebrity due to her being a woman and the first female prisoner of Yuma Territorial Prison. She was known to have been around the Mammoth area at one time and stayed at the Mountain View Hotel in Oracle. It is said that she returned to the Globe area following her incarceration and lived near the Christmas Mine in the Dripping Springs area.
