The winning Science Fair projects from Mountain Vista School were entered in the regional SARSEF Science Fair in Tucson, March 30-April 1. The students’ projects did amazingly well.
From Mrs. Formo’s class, the pie project won second place, and the essential oil sanitizer won first. The pie and transpiration projects also won from the Tucson Cactus and Succulent Society. They won $25 each and certificates and memberships. The Climate Change project won $25 each and a certificate. The Stomach Acid project won third place. Altogether, the fourth graders won a total of $240.
Mrs. Maki’s first grade class won second place and a class trophy and $25.
Elena Hendirx, a sixth grade student, won first place grand award for her project, $50 and a trophy. Elena’s project will now be entered in the AzSEF (state science fair).

A big thank you to Mrs. Formo, who teaches fourth grade, Mrs. Smith, who teaches middle school science, and Suzi Fairbanks for taking the projects and setting them up.
