12 Incompetent Jurors opens Saturday.

By special arrangement with Playscripts, Inc. the new Southern Pinal Arts and Theatre Society, Inc. (SPATS) production 12 Incompetent Jurors opens Saturday Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. On opening night come celebrate SPATS purchasing the theater and becoming a tax exempt organization. Refreshments will be served.

The play by Ian McWethy is a comedic spoof of the classic theatrical production and movie 12 Angry Men. It was named the hit of the 2010 New York City International Fringe Festival. When 12 oddball jurors begin deliberating the open and shut case of a man who has abducted a half a dozen cats, the laughs come quickly. One juror holds out for a not guilty verdict. This “wannabee” lawyer treats the case as if the death penalty was on the table. Will he convince the others that this “cat burglar” is not guilty?

The oddball jurors include a bickering couple, a man obsessed with French fries, and a biker type with a violent temper. Will the jurors learn to operate the air conditioner? Is the creator of Star Wars, filmmaker George Lucas somehow involved in the case? Is there anyone sane on the jury? Will justice be served? Whatever the outcome, the audience is in for a fun time.
