Combs High School will host a community health event on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 3 – 6 p.m.
Among the many physicians, medical organizations, and services that will be in attendance and/or available are:
FREE sports physicals and Boy Scout physicals courtesy of Dr. Weinstein (Sports & Orthopaedic Medicine Specialists) and A Better Choice Family Practice, which will also provide free ECG’s.
Mobile Onsite Mammography (M.O.M) will be there to provide mammograms. Please call 480-967-3767 to schedule an appointment.
There are over 20 more organizations scheduled to attend, including United Blood Service, Poison Control, Pinal County Health Dept., American Cancer Society, American Lung Association, and American Heart Association.
Additionally, Combs High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) medical professions students will be assisting with blood-pressure checks and screenings, height and weight checks, and vision screenings.
“One of the first layers is allowing an opportunity for our CTE students to see what organizations are (in the health industry),” said Kelly Guerra, the J.O. Combs Unified School District Coordinator of Community Education. “Also, (we’ve) identified that residents of our community are not always aware of what is available to them.”
“We want to bring awareness to the great things those organizations do,” she added. “So it’s a great one-stop shop for our community and it also benefits our students.”
Andrew Luberda began writing for Copper Area News Publishers (CANP) in February 2013 after working 15 years in Healthcare Financial Management. Andy covers sports for 11 high schools. His stories are published in Copper Basin News, San Manuel Miner and Superior Sun, in addition to the San Tan Valley Daily PRSS and CopperArea websites. Additionally, he has written human interest stories and business profiles. In May 2012, he earned an AAS in Sports Management at Central Arizona College before graduating with a BS in Communication from Arizona State University in 2014. He and his wife, Kelli, have three sons – AJ, Kyle, and Kade.
