Felicity Boltarez of Kearny was the runner up in the Fiesta Queen contest.

Jordan Lopez was crowned 2015 Fiesta Queen.

The annual Fiestas Patrias hosted by the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic church is one of the longest running events in Superior. The event has grown significantly over the past few years with the addition of the car show. This year the car show doubled in participation with 247 cars registered for the event.

One of the traditions of the event is the crowing of the fiesta queen. This year 7th grader Jordan Lopez was crowned the 2015 Fiesta Queen. Her opponent in the fundraising race was Felicity Boltarez of Kearny. The two worked with their families to raise money for the parish and the candidate who raised the most funds wins the crown.

Food and game booths were open throughout Saturday and Sunday. Saturday evening the stage was filled with entertainment by the Superior Dance Company under the instruction of Superior native Billie Jo Villaverde. Mariachi Alma Jaliso also performed along with the St. Francis Church Choir. Saturday night closed out with band “Primo” playing until late into the night.

Baile Folklorico Alma de Superior under the instruction of Keana Torres also performed for a brief time on Saturday but returned to the stage for a full performance on Sunday.
