Traci Stewart, CVRMC Lab Director, is enthused and passionate about increasing the blood supply for United Blood Services, the supplier of emergency blood for our local area.
Medical advances and modern surgical techniques, (such as cancer treatments, organ transplants and open heart surgery), have increased the need for blood. In addition, the advancing age of the Baby Boomer generation has caused stress on the blood supply. Our blood supply must be ready for everyday needs as well as the unexpected, such as accidents, natural or manmade disasters.
CVRMC hosted a blood drive for United Blood Services on Thursday, May 22, 2014 for four hours and successfully collected 41 units of blood.
“Thank you, this really helped their inventory for the Memorial Holiday,” said Traci.
