Mila Besich-Lira Biography

Over the years, Mila Besich-Lira has spent at least 20 hours a month working on community activities. This passion for helping others began when Mila was in high school, when she became involved in the Superior Substance Abuse Coalition, an organization she continues to be involved with today.

Over the past eight years, Mila has strived to help her community through politics. For example, she served on the Superior School Board and Town Council. For Mila, politics suits her well and she is excited to use her time and resources to help make Superior an even better place to live and work.

Currently, Mila is a member of the Superior Chamber of Commerce, where she has also served as Secretary and on the Board of Directors. She also helped found the Superior Optimist Club, which has an emphasis on youth development, and the Superior Copper Alliance, which focuses on economic development.

In addition to being the past Secretary of the Superior Little League Board of Directors, Mila currently serves on the Superior Unified School District Governing Board and is a member of the Superior Town Council.

Mila possesses a natural knack for combining resources with the right people in order to make wonderful things happen. A great example of this talent is her work on the Legends of Superior Trail. Mila worked with the Town of Superior to raise money for the project and helps to plan a large yearly event and other smaller events to raise funds for the project. Mila attributes her passion for helping people throughout Superior and the surrounding region to her strong family values.

Mila, through her company Miracle Executive Services, works with Albo Trucking and the Copper Corridor Economic Development Coalition. She manages the CCEDC’s Mobile Visitor’s Center.

Editor’s note: Mila Besich-Lira also works with us at Copper Area News Publishers as both a reporter and director of advertising. This is the second time she has worked for the newspapers. She was theSuperior Sunsports reporter when she was in high school.
