A gubernatorial visit to San Manuel

Making more of a pit stop than a visit, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer (and her plane) landed at the San Manuel Airport Friday. She was quickly whisked away by her security detail to a meeting in San Manuel. She is pictured above getting into the Suburban. It was unknown exactly why the governor was visiting SaddleBrooke, but Tuesday it was announced that SaddleBrooke resident Retired Colonel Richard E. Hudgins, USAF, was named as a member of the Installations and Operations Advisory Panel for the Governor’s Military Affairs Commission. Hudgins was nominated by Pinal County Chairman of the Board of Supervisors Anthony Smith who is a sitting member of the commission. “The commission was looking for a representative from six counties to serve on the advisory panel,” Chairman Smith said. “The ideal person they were looking for was a retired military general officer who had knowledge of the county and the military installations of the area. I immediately thought of Colonel Hudgins, I knew he had all the qualifications the commission needed for this position.”
