PHOENIX– Expect More Arizona, a nonprofit education advocacy organization, has launched the Expect More Excellence Tour to shine a light on what Arizonans are doing all over the state to make progress toward a world-class education for all students.
Highlighting examples of excellence statewide supports Expect More Arizona’s efforts to create a high-expectations culture, where schools and educators are celebrated and supported, and students achieve great results.
“Students in Arizona need to be prepared to succeed in today’s global economy, and that requires a world-class education,” said Pearl Chang Esau, Expect More Arizona’s President and CEO. “Countless students, educators, parents and communities are already working to raise the bar to that world-class level, and this initiative is a way to both recognize their commitment and inspire excellence for all Arizona students.”
The Expect More Excellence Tour celebrates the kind of education Arizonans should expect and believe must be available to all students. The goal is to unite communities across the state in the commitment to make world-class education for all a reality.
The Expect More Excellence Tour is now accepting submissions online at ExpectMoreArizona.org/TOUR. Submissions will be accepted on an ongoing basis and two spotlight awards – a People’s Choice pick and a Judge’s pick – will be selected each month, beginning in September.
The People’s Choice Spotlight will be determined by the number of online votes on the last day of each month. The Judge’s Pick will be given to those submissions that best reflect alignment to one or more of the Five Building Blocks of World-Class Education and describe the impact of the work.
Submissions require completion of a short online form accompanied by a photo or short video that best represents the program or person being nominated. Videos should be no longer than 3 minutes and video production quality will not be a factor in judging. Videos can be taken with a mobile device, flip cam, iPad, etc.
