Globe – Two local sisters competed and won first place honors in their age divisions for 5 de Mayo, Reina De Las Flores Fiesta held in Globe.
Olivia Fernandez, age six, was crowned 2014/2015 Young Miss Cinco De Mayo. Alexandria, her younger sister, age five, was crowned Little Miss Cinco de Mayo in her age division.
This has been a very rewarding and exciting experience for both girls to have taken part in. Interviewing before Gila County judges, participating in a talent competition, modeling evening wear and outfits of their choice before an audience and posing for pictures for photographer Jill Corona for their most photogenic poses to provide to judges as well as learning proper etiquette in table manners that becomes young queens were remarkable experiences for both young girls.
Olivia and Alexandria were both judged in their comfort in modeling, their stage presence; style and confidence and totality of all elements during the competition. They both received a beautiful crown, each, for winning in their age divisions and had a wonderful experience that they won’t soon forget.
Both girls will be participating in future events in coming months. They are scheduled to take part in 4th of July Parade in Prescott, Veteran’s Day Parade on November 11, Light Parade in December and Rose Parade in Tombstone, followed by Octoberfest.
Olivia and Alexandria Fernandez are the daughters of Monica Fernandez and stepfather Ted Rubal; their maternal grandmother is Vera Hernandez and maternal grandfather is George Cruz, all of Hayden.
