The Safe Journey House in San Manuel held an open house on Wednesday, April 9 in honor of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is observed every April to promote crime victims’ rights and to honor crime victims and those that advocate for them. This year’s theme was 30 Years: Restoring the Balance of Justice. It marked the 30th anniversary of the passage of the Victims of Crime Act (VOC).
Members from government agencies, law enforcement, victim advocate groups, and the community were in attendance. Everyone enjoyed a tour of the Safe Journey House as well as some delicious food. Some of the people, agencies and groups in attendance were Kearny Police Chief Bob Ingulli, Debra Miller, community liaison for Pinal County Attorney Lando Voyles, advocates from Against Abuse and Pinal County Victim’s Services, Executive Director of Against Abuse Pat Griffin, Casa Grande Police Department, Adelante Juntos, San Manuel Rotary, Central Arizona College and the volunteers of Safe Journey House.
John Hernandez lives in Oracle. He is retired and enjoys writing and traveling. He is active in the Oracle Historical Society. He covers numerous public events, researches historical features and writes business/artist profiles.
