Railroad crew lends a hand

In San Manuel there is a “new” railroad, called San Manuel Arizona RR Company (SMARCO) which was purchased by Capstone from BHP Copper railroad in 2013. This Vancouver-based company owns mines in Canada & Mexico, and services area mines from San Manuel to Hayden, and the Pinto Valley Mining Operation in Globe-Miami on a 29.4 mile rail.

The crew chief for Capstone, Ron Lewallen, recently offered some free help to Kids’ Closet, and brought with him his crew Eric Wright, Matt Lewallen, Caesar Zazueta and Jared Ortiz. They arrived with shovels and wheel barrows, and removed the rock pile in the front parking lot , taking it to another eroded area behind the Kids’ Closet building. The Sycamore Canyon Academy students had moved much rock prior to Capstone’s arrival, but the additional equipment and manpower provided a much improved parking lot for the closet. The area is used not only by volunteers but by the school busses which provide transportation for students coming to the closet.

The SaddleBrooke Community Outreach program called Kids’ Closet is very grateful for the volunteer services of Capstone, and for their spirit of community service! For all of us, “It’s All About the Kids”.
