Art and history will come together once again at the annual Juried Art and Fine Crafts Show and Sale to be held on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 14-15, 2015, this year at the Superstition Mountain Museum. Featured at the show will be more than 50 artists displaying and offering for sale paintings, jewelry, sculpture, pottery, glass creations and more.
A new feature of this year’s event is the addition of several well-known Native American artisans who will be offering beautiful, handmade jewelry and other authentically-crafted items.
Admission to this event is free and the show runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. both days.
There will be musical entertainment both days with Ron Hauser performing on Saturday, and Ted Newman providing the music on Sunday. Food will be available on the grounds. In addition, with Superstition Mountain as a majestic backdrop, families can hike the nature trail, visit Boot Hill and the Apacheland barn, and find perfect settings for taking keepsake photographs.
Attendees can also tour the museum and see Ted DeGrazia’s original “Superstition Collection” for an exhibit gallery fee of $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and children free with adults. This is the final few weeks of the exhibition of the more than 28 oil paintings, watercolor paintings and sketches that depict the landmarks and history of the Superstition Mountains. The collection, currently on loan, will be going back to the DeGrazia Foundation in Tucson as of April 9, 2015.
The museum is on Highway 88 beneath Superstition Mountain just northeast of the Mountain View Rd. intersection. The address is 4087 N. Apache Trail. It is open daily except for Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Thanksgiving. For more information about “Art in the Superstitions,” visit www.superstitionmountainmuseum.org. or call 480-983-4888.
