Superior residents were lined up at the John F. Kennedy Elementary School on Saturday morning to take advantage of the free dump day that was provided by many community entities. Tires, metal, old furniture, trash, yard waste, and so much more filled the dumpsters quickly and unfortunately the gates were closed by 11 a.m. when the bins were filled.
The clean ups had been missing from the Superior event schedule for a few years and with the transfer station closed it has been difficult for residents to get rid of trash.
The following organizations were instrumental in coordinating the clean up and they plan to host additional clean ups throughout the year.
The clean up was sponsored by Republic Services, OMYA, Resolution Copper, Superior Unified School District, Town of Superior, Footprints Matter, Copper Area News Publishers and many local citizens who volunteered with the organizing and on the day of.
