We read in John 14:23, “If anyone loves Me, he will obey My commands/teaching.” This is Jesus speaking clearly. He spent about three years teaching and training the disciples to take over the work He was doing.
It is quite simple. If you truly love God, you will obey Him all the time, not just when you want to or choose to. It is not a question of ‘will I,’ but – do it now! Get it done.
In John 15:14 & 15 Jesus says to us, “You are My friends if you do what I command. I have called you friends, for everything I have learned from My Father, I have taught you.”
Abraham was called a friend of God. Can people say that about you? He loved God and obeyed Him. Since you can’t obey what you do not know, get close to God, learn to love Him and He will love you back. Read the Bible, regularly. It will give you knowledge you cannot get any other way. Talk daily with the Lord, and listen as well as He gives you the answers you seek. It is a great life being God’s friend!
