Just before school ended for the Christmas break, students from First Avenue Elementary School finally saw what hard work and determination could result in.
Students collected more than 250 pounds of comfort items donated by students, families, friends and school staff. All the items were boxed and readied for delivery to the VA Hospital in Tucson.
The students also invited parents and special guests to help decorate and sign more than 110 Christmas cards that will also be delivered to the VA Hospital, wishing our vets happiness in the holiday season.
Local VFW 2767 will serve as Santa for this special delivery.
