Copper Community Action Board achieves non-profit status

Copper Community Action Board is a group of local citizens who have volunteered their time from painting the outside of homes, to roadside clean-ups and community outreach events.

We are excited to share the news that we have achieved our 501c3 non-profit status! Our goals for 2016 are to start searching for grants to help the elderly and low-income individuals with home improvement assistance, the towns with community beautification or restoration and fundraising for scholarships for high school seniors who volunteer in their spare time.

Many of our elderly have family who have moved away and are left to fend for themselves. They have overgrown yards, or they could not use their cooler in the summer because no one would maintain it for them. CCAB would like to keep a stock of tools and a network of volunteers who can assist with these needs. We are looking to purchase tools and recruit more members who can volunteer.

CCAB will be putting applications at the Senior Centers, Town Offices and the Copper Basin Chamber of Commerce. This application process is the first step that CCAB would use in screening individuals who need some kind of assistance. We would like to help the elderly or handicapped with outside issues, like fixing their cooler for summer or cleaning their yards.  The decision to assist applicants will be voted amongst the Board. Once a candidate is selected, someone from CCAB will contact you. CCAB would like to be able to help everybody; however, we are limited with our resources and cannot aid immediately.

For more information on CCAB, you can visit our website at http://bit.ly/1UG0Rke or you can email us at coppercommunityactionboard@yahoo.com.

  Thank you,
