St. Francis Fiesta Committee plans golf tourney

The 3rd Annual Saint Francis Fiesta Golf Tournament has been set for Saturday, May 9, at the Queen Valley Golf Club in Queen Valley approximately 3 miles north of U.S. Highway 60 turn-off.

The tournament is open to the public and registration will begin at 6:30 in the morning with tee-off at 7:30. The tourney is a fund raiser for the 36thAnnual St. Francis of Assisi Fiesta held each September on the church grounds at Church Avenue and Main Street.

The tournament has a three-man scramble format with a fee of $45.00 per player. The fee includes the golf fee, golf cart and lunch. The cash prizes offered for first, second and third places will be based on the number of entries. The tournament will include prizes for the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin, as well as various giveaways. Hole number 10 will feature a special giveaway.

There are 18 hole sponsorships available at $50 a hole. Any club organization, business or individual who would like to sponsor a hole should call Leslie Bryant at 520-463-2214 or Roy Chavez at 520-827-9133.

Starting with registration food items will be available. Breakfast burros will be the morning specialty. A hamburger lunch will be offered as part of the registration fee.

The committee is accepting donations for the giveaways. Donations of gift cards, food or bath item baskets, tickets, golf bags, ice chests, caps, etc. are being solicited.

Queen candidates are still needed and young ladies up through high school age can call Marcella Garcia at 480-939-1313 or the St. Francis Parish Office at 520-689-2250.

Volunteers for this year’s Fiesta are needed and those interested are asked to call the Parish Office.

Donations of all kinds will be greatly appreciated.and prizes for Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin.
