The sixth-ranked Ray baseball team improved to 8 – 1 in sectional play after a 6 – 1 victory at San Carlos on April 10. The Bearcats are now in sole possession first place in Section VI. An automatic berth in the state tournament goes to each of the six section winners in Division IV.
Douglas McPeak went 3-for-4 with three RBI versus the Braves. Destry Yocum also had three hits while his younger brother, Cole, finished with two hits.
Senior Jacob Pace earned the complete-game win, his first of the year. The right-hander allowed only one run on three hits while striking out 14 Braves’ hitters.
Upcoming schedule: April 23 at Hayden, April 24 at Superior, and April 28 vs. San Manuel. All games are scheduled for 4 p.m.
