Mammoth Police Report

According to state law, police may arrest suspected offenders by two methods. The suspect may be physically taken into the department and booked into jail, or the arresting officer may write a citation and release the suspect to appear in court later. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Only criminal citations are listed. All damage amounts are estimates.

Items are given to the San Manuel Miner by the Mammoth Police Department and reflect information available at the time the report is compiled.

Nov. 13

A vehicle hit and run was reported at Oracle Junction. The vehicle reported was a 2001 three quarter ton Chevy pick up silver in color. Arizona license plate number 890FHJ headed north from the junction on Highway 77.

A person called to report that kids were shooting their BB guns in the backyard of the apartments on Tiger Drive. Security checks were requested for the area.

Nov. 14

A person reported a man climbing a ridge above Cliff Street. The man sounded intoxicated and appeared to be yelling at a woman whose voice could be heard. An officer responded to the area and made contact with the man. Everything was fine.

A reporting party called for a medical assist at an address on McNab for an unknown age woman, a domestic violence victim. The San Manuel Fire Department responded. Patient had no medical need.

A report of a family dispute on Childs Street was received. The reporting party said his son was trying to start a fight with him over money. The father said he would not fight his son and requested an officer to remove his son from his home. An officer responded and gave the son a ride to his house.

Nov. 15

A report of a suspicious person near an address on Highway 77 was received. An officer responded and met with the reporting party who was armed with a rifle and patrolling a wash area nearby for the suspect. The reporting party told the officer that the suspect had not made threats or come onto his property. The officer told the party not to take matters into his own hands, leave the rifle in the residence and call the police if the person returned.

Nov. 18

A person followed a reckless driver from Oracle to Mammoth and said that the driver had stopped at an apartment building on Highway 77. An officer was requested to check out the driver.

Nov. 20

A party called to report that a minor was trying to get adults to purchase liquor for him at the Circle K. An officer responded and spoke with the suspect. Suspect did not appear to be intoxicated or have any alcohol on him. The juvenile denied trying to get someone to buy alcohol for him.

Calls not listed include: medical (12), animal complaint (4), fingerprints (2), vacation house watch/welfare check (1), civil standby/citizen assist (1), warrants served/cleared (1) and fire (1).
