John Robert Eckert

  John Robert Eckert passed away on July 7, 2016. He leaves behind wife, Clara; daughter, Jennifer of Montana; and son, Robert of Colorado.

  John married Clara on Dec. 31, 1973. They were married for 42 years.

  He joined the Marine Corps in May 1973 and retired in 1996. He made the rank of Master Sergeant and was stationed in Japan, Hawaii, North Carolina and California.

  John was involved with the Lions Club, Rotary and Copper Town Days. He was especially proud of his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America and the Elks Lodge #2007. He was the Exalted Ruler at the time of his passing and had been a member for 14 years. John was involved in the Boy Scouts since 1960, starting as a Cub Scout and achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He was an accomplished leader with the District Award of Merit and two Silver Beaver Awards. He was a Scout leader in Japan, Hawaii and all over this country, wherever he was stationed.

  He lived a full and exciting life.

  John was the oldest son of John and Delores Eckert. He was the second child. Surviving siblings are Cathy, Sherie, Ricky, Donnie and Donna.

  John will be missed by this community.
