James ‘Craig’ Williams

James “Craig” Williams passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2017 at the age of 55 in San Manuel, Arizona.

He was born in Casa Grande, Arizona, on June 24, 1961, to Jess and Sue Williams.  Craig is survived by his mother and father and his four sons, Corey, Seth, Matthew, and Ismael.  He is also survived by his grandson, David; and three siblings, Steve Williams, Lori (Albert) Mendibles, and Charles (Lupe) Williams.  Craig was preceded in death by his grandparents George and Frankie Williams; and Sam and Maude Pierce.

Craig graduated from San Manuel High School in 1979.  He then served in the United States Air Force as a Navigation Service Engineer.  Craig was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal and was proud of serving his country.  He was honorably discharged after nine years of service.

It was important to Craig to give back to his hometown, in doing so he served as the Mayor of the Town of Mammoth from 2004 to 2010.  He also worked many years at ASARCO and then Pinal County.

Craig loved desert riding in his Jeep, fishing, and hiking.  He also loved the outdoors, and especially liked to sit around a campfire while drinking a cold one.  Most of all he loved his boys.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, at the Vistoso Funeral Home, 2285 E. Rancho Vistoso Boulevard, in Oro Valley, Arizona.
