On Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2015, the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) presented Michael Weasner, Chairman of the Oracle Dark Skies Committee with a Dark Skies Defender Award for 2015. Earlier this year the Oracle Dark Skies Committee received this award for 2014.

This award is “given to individuals and organizations in appreciation of their efforts on behalf of IDA and its mission to preserve night skies by promoting quality outdoor nighttime lighting.”

Michael Weasner thanked the members of the Oracle Dark Skies Committee and their supporters.

“It is really an honor to be personally recognized by the IDA Board of Directors,” he said. “My efforts would not have been possible without the dedicated support of all of you.”

The Oracle Dark Skies Committee continues to educate the public and promote quality outdoor nighttime lighting through programs and events at Oracle State Park which is one of only 30 Certified IDA International Dark Skies Parks in the world.
