Mike M. Urquijo

  Mike M. Urquijo was born Feb. 27, 1938, in Superior, AZ. Mike passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

  He joined the Navy in 1955, served several tours in Vietnam as part of the brown water fleet assigned near Can Tho. Mike retired in 1979 from the Navy, came home to Superior and married Rosie Sanchez. They soon started a family and were blessed with four sons.

  He worked in the mining industry as a boilermaker for 19 years. After retiring from the mine, he began working for Immigration and U.S. Customs in Florence, AZ where he worked for 16 years.

  He is preceded in death by parents Jose and Maria Urquijo, his sister Inez Ruiz, and brother Joe Coty Urquijo. He is survived by his wife Rosie, sister Ofelia Urquijo, four sons, Michael (Cecilia), Jonathan (Judith), René (Stephanie) Jesse Urquijo, and his 10 grandchildren.

  Services will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Superior, AZ. on Aug. 5, 2022, at 10 a.m.
