Robert Wills, 86, peacefully passed into heaven on Saturday, May 7, 2022, in an assisted living home in Snowflake. He was born in Globe and spent his childhood in Arizona and New Mexico. He peacefully passed into heaven. His family is so grateful for the care that he received from them and for the many friends that he made while staying there.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ruth (Murdock) Wills; and Glenda, his wife of 61 years. As they are, he is loved and missed!
Robert (Bob) is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Bobby) Blake; son, Jerry (Sally) Wills; three grandsons, Clay (Amy) Wills, Bobby (Marlena) Blake Jr. and Travis (Mindy) Wills; eight great-grandchildren, Kyle (Hannah), Kole (Elizabeth), Shea, Cutter, Dakota, Waylon, Uriah and Madilyn; great-great-grandson Cinch; brother Jim (Ernestine); and, dear to him, nephews and nieces.
Bob graduated from South Mountain High School in Phoenix, then went on to take college courses at Central Arizona College as well as undergoing a variety of private professional training.
Bob’s career began at Magma Copper Company, first as a chauffeur for the company and later at their truck stop. He opened Bob’s Auto Glass as a side business. Moving to Kearny to help his aunt and uncle, he began work at Milton’s Market. From there he spent a short time as a Pinal County Deputy. He and Glenda trained to manage the, then, new Mammoth Circle K Store. Most notably, he and Glenda built, owned and operated the Diamond J Market Hardware Store in Dudleyville for over 20 years. Upon retiring, he and Glenda owned and operated Aravaipa RV Park, where they met many new friends, including tourists from across the country and from all over the world.
Bob’s interests included worshiping God at San Pedro Valley Baptist Church, being a Bible student, serving as a member of the Elks Lodges in San Manuel and Kearny, and being a member of the Kearny Sheriff’s Posse. He also loved piloting his own airplane, boating, waterskiing, hunting by horseback, fishing and raising cattle. He had a love for horses, mules and a variety of animals, a talent for construction work; served as a Boy Scout Leader, School Board Member, and on several community action committees. Also, Bob enjoyed the many friendships he made throughout the years.
Bob enjoyed living in the Copper Basin area for over 60 years; living in Oracle, Kearny, then finally settling in Aravaipa. He was dedicated to his family, his friends, and his Lord, Jesus Christ.
Memorial Service for Bob is planned for Oct. 1, 2022, at 10 a.m. in Oracle. Further details will be announced later.
