The Hayden baseball team continued their hot streak with four wins last week.

On April 5, the Lobos traveled to play against Tempe Prep. The boys started the game off strong, posting 4 runs in the first inning. They kept control the entire game, not allowing Tempe Prep to post any runs. The game ended with a final score of 8-0. Moreas Cruz, Rene Arbizo, and Deondre Collier lead the team at the plate with 2 hits each. Arbizo and Collier each also had 2 RBIs. Collier was 1 of 4 players to pitch during the game, only pitching two innings, he was able to collect 5 strikeouts.

On April 7, Hayden hosted the Superior Panthers. Once again Hayden took control of the game early, up by 4 runs by the start of the fourth inning, ending it up by 7 runs. The Lobos only gave up 3 runs, but they were spread out through three innings. The final score of the game was 11-3. Once again, Collier and Arbizo lead at the plate, each with 3 hits. Aaron Peed had 3 RBIs, followed by Jarin Cruz with 2 RBIs.

On Saturday, April 9, the Lobos hosted Joseph City for two games. The first game once again started out in the boys’ control; they were ahead by 4 runs by the start of the third inning, while Joseph City was only able to get 1 run on the board. The final score of the first game was 11-1. The second game also saw the boys take control of the game early. Joseph City was only able to post 1 run again, this time not until the sixth inning, giving Hayden its fourth victory of the week. The final score of the second game was 4-1.

The Lady Lobos found one win and two losses last week. On April 4, the girls traveled to face off against Miami. The girls came home with a win, beating Miami with a final score of 12-7. On April 7, the girls suffered a tough, 3-13, loss against Superior. Saturday, April 9, the Lady Lobos hosted Joseph City. The game was in the girls control 6-1, by the start of the fourth inning. Hayden remained in control until Joseph City began to close the gap in the sixth inning. The girls were no longer able to hold down Joseph City, and allowed 6 runs to slip through in the seventh inning. The game ended with a final score of 6-11.

Up next for Hayden: Today, the Lady Lobos host NFL Yet for a 4 p.m. game. The teams will be on the road Saturday, April 16, for 3 p.m. games against Mogollon. On Tuesday, the Lobos will travel to San Manuel for a 1:30 p.m. JV boys game and 4 p.m. varsity softball and baseball games.
