From the San Manuel Miner – February 1970

  A Valentine Party for the Juniors of Community Presbyterian Church was held after school Feb. 12, at the church. Refreshments were provided by members of Mrs. Lloyd Thomas’ class of fourth, fifth and sixth-graders. 

  Jerry Bunch, Kay Cox, Joellen Thomas, Beth and Barbara Collins, Susie Weaver, Susan Small and Fred Winkler, Jr. helped plan the party earlier in the week. 

  Other members of the class attending were Kari and Cheryl Robbins, Janet and Larry Hudson, Mark Pawley, Kricket Semmons, Danna Barksdale, Susan Printy, Kathaleen Hudson, Sandy Watson, Kenny Burk, Bernice Dominquez, Jonathan and Laurie Bayba and Brenda Hurley. 

  Guests who joined in playing games, indoors and on the church lawn, were Marla Uptain, Nancy Jones, Edna Wilson, Aline White, Leslie Dudding, Kathy Barksdale, Karen Brooks, Nancy Swanson, Carrie Roberts, Deanna McCauley, Johnny Sanchez, Patty Pena, Herman Blackburn, Robert Watson, Butch Windsor, Elvira Durazo, Andy Bayba and Bruce Hurley. 

  The Junior’s next activity will be on Sunday, March 1, when they will sing at the 11 a.m. service. The class meets at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday at the church, and welcomes newcomers, or 4th, 5th, and 6th– graders who do not attend church school elsewhere. 

  Mrs. Thomas is assisted by Floyd Rodgers, James Robbins, Marvin Armbrust, Val Hudson, Kenneth Small, Harvey Willeford and Clovis Halcomb on alternate weeks.
