Mountain Vista Cougars open softball, baseball season with one win and one loss

Mountain Vista Cougars

  The Mountain Vista Cougars baseball and softball teams hosted the Hayden Lobos in the first games of the season on Monday, Feb. 26.

  The Lobos baseball team overpowered the Cougars 15 to 1.

  The Lady Cougars handled the Lobo girls’ softball team easily with a 14 to 2 victory.

  The Cougars have a tough schedule traveling away on their next four games beginning at Superior on Monday, March 5, and San Carlos on March 7.  They will not play at home until Monday, March 26, when they face Ray.

  The Mt. Vista Cougars softball team this year: Denessa Apodaca, Cassara Dominguez, Yasmine Goga, RaeLynn Herbert, Avery Jennings, Brenda Lopez, Cat Mandibles, Ashely Mendoza, Bella Medina. Pepper Nielson, Natalye Pinedo, Haylee Powell, Lexi Salazar, Gabby Sanchez, Teresa Schmanke, Sienna Soza, Chyenne Valdez, Nathallia Valencia, Lily Vigil, Mariah Villalba, Tianni Whitman, and Emily York.  Coaches: Amber Cruea and Gina Medina.

  This year’s baseball team: Evan Britt, Azul Candelaria, Robert Fields, Alex Goad, Hunter Hill, Colton Hughey, Rene Martinez, Sebastian Pinedo, Bixol Robles, Landon Stamps, Ivan Sutherland, Jakob Tafoya, Andrew Waddel, Cole West, Augi Westrope, and Dominick Whitten. Coaches are Dale Tom and James Goad.
