Mammoth P & Z announces significant changes in property maintenance

The Town of Mammoth and the Planning and Zoning Commission (PZ team) has announced two significant changes that the citizens of Mammoth should know. The first is that there have been changes made to the Property Maintenance Ordinances in order to make it easier for property owners to understand what is expected of them.

Article 14-14  Prohibition of Nuisance Uses of Occupied Properties and Article 14-26 Vacant Properties have been repealed as of Oct. 19 and have now been combined into one known as Article 14-27 Property Maintenance Code. To read this for yourself, you may obtain a copy from  Mammoth Town Hall or the Mammoth Public Library for a fee of $5 per copy, or you may view and download a copy from the Mammoth website at twonofmammoth.us/land-use-codes, scroll down to Article 14-27.

Secondly, beginning Nov. 13, the PZ team will be conducting their inspections throughout the Town of Mammoth and distributing flyers showing what violations may exist on those properties, with concern concentrated on properties that have excessive weeds, litter or debris, as well as abandoned or junk vehicles, but, also other areas to which section 12 of this article applies.  Violation Letters will be distributed beginning on Nov. 20 to those properties that are still in violation at the time they enter each area.  If these violations are ignored, the property owner will be issued a citation to appear in Mammoth Court for prosecution regarding this violation.

A representative of the Mammoth Planning and Zoning Commission and Code Enforcement Office stated, “This is being done in an effort to address neighborly complaints and safety standards for the Quality of Life Program that will benefit all the residents of the Town of Mammoth. We are proud to be part of a community of so many diverse and caring people, who want to be good neighbors and responsible citizens. So, please show pride in our town and your own properties by keeping your properties clean, safe and clutter free. With a little effort, we can all do our part to clean up this little town and it starts with where you live first.“
