John Robert Eckert
John Robert Eckert, 63, passed away at Oro Valley Hospital on July 7, 2016.
He was born Aug. 27, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois to Dee and John Ronald Eckert.
John served for 30 years in the United States Marine Corps, retiring in 1996 having achieved the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant.
John moved to San Manuel on Sept. 11, 2001. He was active in Scouting and was a member of the Elks, Rotary, Lion’s Club, American Legion and VFW. He also worked for many years at San Manuel Hardware.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Left behind in loving memory are his wife, Clara; daughter, Jennifer Ann of Montana; son, Robert John of Elizabeth, Colorado; sisters, Cathy Cross and Cherry Dixon, both of Colorado, and Donna of Utah; brothers, Donny Eckert of Colorado and Ricky Eckert of Florida; and one grandson, Brandon of Colorado.
Services will be held Wednesday, July 27, at 7 p.m. at the San Manuel Elks Lodge. The family plans to spread his ashes in Colorado.
