Second graders at First Avenue Elementary School have a new teacher standing at the chalkboard.

Corrie Guerrero may be new as a teacher but not to the school. Corrie grew up in San Manuel, went to school at First Avenue and graduated from San Manuel High School. She has been teaching second grade in the Oracle School district for the past 11 years.

Corrie attended Central Arizona College and Pima Community College before graduating with a B.A. Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Arizona. She is a big Wildcat fan and a fan of the Chicago Cubs baseball team. She said she became a Cubs fan after she and her husband went to Chicago on their honeymoon.

She lives in San Manuel with her husband, Eddie, three daughters and a son ages 8, 3, 1, and 10. Her kids keep her busy but she enjoys traveling and reading when she can find the time.

Corrie says she loves teaching and her new school. She said she is pretty familiar with all the staff, having lived in the community most of her life.

Principal Katy Wilkins called her “a great addition to our staff.”
