The Mountain Vista Horsemanship Program is open to all Mt. Vista students. The weekly classroom curriculum at Mt. Vista includes riding basics, safety, fitness, tack, grooming, anatomy, horse care, equine careers, and different horse breeds and their uses. Besides the weekly classroom activity the class meets on Saturdays at the Southern Arizona Equestrian Center 77 Arena. The riding classes are taught by world renowned horse trainer Jamie Drizin. The students not only learn how to ride but how to control their horse. This is the second year of the horsemanship program and they have 32 students in the class. They participate in the Oaks Festival Parade and operate the concession stand at the monthly gymkhanas held at the 77 Arena. At the end of the year the students put on a competitive horse show.
