The Superior baseball team defeated Hayden (3 – 2) and Ft. Thomas (12 – 1) last week to move above .500 on the season with a record of 6 – 5. It’s the second time this season the Panthers are above .500, the last time being when they were 4 – 3.
In the win over Ft. Thomas, the Panthers pounded out 13 hits, including two each from Nicholas Cruz, Cesar Villalobos, Rickey Longoria, Edgar Galindo, and Elias Olmos. Longoria hit two of the Panthers five doubles in the game. In addition to Longoria, Cesar Villalobos, Matthew Zavala, and Edgar Galindo also doubled.
Longoria earned a complete-game victory by going six innings and allowing one earned run on three hits. He allowed two walks and struck out 12.
The Panthers were successful 9 out of 10 in stolen bases against the Apaches.
Upcoming schedule: The Panthers are off until April 16 when they host San Manuel. The game is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
