Even though they weren’t in the hunt for the top score, still won a top prize at the Knights of Columbus Charity Golf Tournament April 5. Dan Rusiecki, Mike Munich, Bill Hooks and Joe Volk won a round of golf for four because their card was drawn from the teams that did not place in the top three slots. A hallmark of the local KofC tournament is a great prize going to an unpredictable team.
Team Taylor took top honors again at last Saturday’s Knights of Columbus Charity Golf
Tournament at Saddlebrooke Ranch Golf Club. The tournament benefits local high school scholarships, as well as other education projects.
Steve, Paul, Bruce and Bekki Taylor finished with a 55, three strokes ahead of San Manuel Superintendent John Ryan’s team which included John Tesanovich, Jim Dennis and Jeff Hart.
Ryan’s team, with a 58, edged out the team of Hud White, Mark Vigil, Ralph Flores and David Garcia, who finished with a 59.
“Although the top three teams were local, we were very gratified to see teams coming from so many places,” said tournament director John Wahlmeier.
Teams came from Globe and Kearny as well as from the oldest KofC Council in Tucson, Council 1200, on south Tucson Boulevard and the Roy Champeau Council near Shannon and McGee according to Wahlmeier.
“I hope golfers put us on their calendars for next year too,” Wahlmeier said.
“We have our tournament the first Saturday each April, and we always have a lot of fun helping local kids,” he added.
