Bearcat Jr. High Softball opens with win over Mt. Vista

Ray – Bearcat softball traveled to Oracle, to face the Cougars of Mt. Vista. The first inning, the Bearcats came out swinging, going through the batting order while scoring five runs. The Cougars did not back down when their turn at bat came around. They managed to score two runs in their first at-bat, while the Bearcats knocked the rust off their arms and gloves.

In the second inning, the Bearcats did not let up, scoring another five runs, while the pitching and defense settled in, not allowing a Cougar run.

The third inning was the same, as far as five scored runs led by a Naomi Hing homerun. With the game shortened by the 10-run rule and ending in the fourth inning, the Bearcats managed to score another four runs, while the pitching and defense managed not to allow another Cougar to score the entire game. The final score was 19 -2.

The offense was led by Danni Montano , 2-4, double/triple; Emma Alvarado, 1-4, 2 W; Naomi Hing, 1-4, HR; Janae Ruiz, 1-4; and Amee Kenyon, 1-2. Starting on the mound, Daniella Hinojos, 4K, 4W, 3 hits, over three innings and closing on the mound, Danni Montano, 2K, OW, 0 Hits, for one inning. Player of the game, First Baseman /Catcher Emma Alvarado, received the game ball.

The next game, Miami vs Ray, is at 4 pm today.
