San Manuel Miner

Track & Field athletes from the both the Miners boys’ and girls’ teams competed at the Division IV State Track & Field Meet, which took place on May 8 – 9 at Mesa Community College.

Theresa Sweeney, a junior, was the top finisher among both Miners’ teams, placing fourth in the Shot Put with a throw of 33’9.25”. She was the only girls’ team member to earn points for San Manuel, which placed 22nd out of 29 teams.

The San Manuel Boys’ 4 x 100 Relay Team (Randy Verdugo, Antonio Montes, Andrew Gomez, and Jose Damian) earned a point after placing tenth. Junior Carlos Salas placed seventh in the Pole Vault, clearing 10’6” to earn two points.

The Boys’ team finished 33rd out of 34 teams.
