The San Manuel Sea Lions hosted the Florence Sharks and the Coolidge Dolphins on Saturday in the final dual meet of the season. Great swimming and home pool advantage helped the Sea Lions win the meet with 1,178 points while the Dolphins finished with 389 points and the Sharks finished with 44 points. This win marks the ninth consecutive year that the Sea Lions have finished the Central Arizona Swimming League Dual Meet Season without a loss.

The Sea Lions were solid at all age groups and in every event. Sea Lions won 76 out of the 88 events at the meet and had great team depth. The Sea Lions won the Freestyle Relays in every age group (10 age groups) to put the exclamation point on the meet.

The 13-14 Girls kept up their weekly assault on the team records. This week Darien Apuron (14) bettered team records in the 100 Butterfly (1:07.97) and 100 Backstroke (1:10.01). Gianna Sweeney (14) improved on the team records in the 100 Freestyle (1:00.98) and 50 Freestyle (28.21).

Three swimmers entered the maximum number of events and won them all. Johnny Smallhouse (8), Briana Castellanos (10), and Evan Apuron (12) each won all 8 events they swam. Additionally, Kayla Lambiotte won all four of the 6 and under events.

Gabby has quickly become one of the best 9-10 Backstrokers in the League.

The Sea Lions will participate in the Central Arizona Swimming League Relay Meet in Florence on Saturday, July 11.

There is still time to join the team – contact Alex or Wendy Gort at 896-2190, stop by the San Manuel Pool between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. (Monday-Friday) or check sealionsswimteam.com for more information.
